Sage Magic

Sage

New Moon = SAGE MAGIC

 Some magic from your plant

- Burn it to purify the air
- its element is air
- associated with immortality , wisdom, and a granter of wishes
- Burned at funerals to help with grieving of lost loved ones
- many healing uses

Its quite the fun and useful plant! Also don't for get cooking with it can do wonders and the smell - (Amazing)

This sage i started from seed inside early april. In late may it was transferred to my garden in my herb section where it did really well! I was very pleased with it even if it was on the small side. The soil we have on cape cod is not very good. (Thats a lie its very good for tomatoes and thats about it. Every thing else seem to be stunted when grown here. Ok rant over. )

Sage to me is a beautiful pant, russian sage is my favorite I just have not had the opportunity to grow it quite yet.

Since bring in my sage from the garden I've had some problems. I noticed the leaves curling and browning and powdery mildew tried to take my plant to. For the sage that meant I've been over watering. Also the house I live in has bad drafts, so my plants feel the cold when the wind blows. I've moved them farther back from the windows, its helped. Once I did all that its started to flourish.  Now I have a green happy magic plant.

Oldest one of ALL

Oldest Plant
Jade

What I'm am dedicating today to is my old jade pant, its in  of some TLC.

Fun info on my jade, its over 16 years old!
I got a leaf from my grandfathers plant and started this one. Its not as  big as it could be because we move a lot and my pets like chew on my plants , its had a tough life. Thankfully today its going to get a boost and start loving life again.

Must have tea with this project!

First off I'm going to clean out the  debris that has collected. f As you can see I got a odd collection of stuff in the pot, fur from pets, glow in the dark beads and lots of dead leaves.

This needs to be done often in house hold plants or you may get plant pest. Personally have had problem with aphids, white flys, and spider mites. Its best to keep any dead plant debris off the soil. I had rocks, sea glass and shells to keep the cat from digging.

The dead leaves look kind of cool and silverly. The leaves below I plucked off.

Realistically the last time i cleaned out my jade pot was the last time i repotted it. Which was two years ago.

Leaves covered in dust and pet fur.

After throwing away that stuff I'm going to wipe off  the jade leaves and base with water to get off the dust/fur. When that is done I like to then wipe the base and leaves again with a cloth and very little olive oil. I know kind of weird but it brightens an refreshes the plant. Make sure you only use a little olive oil.

Indoor Heaven

My indoor garden helps me see the light on the other side of this darkness called winter.

Blah winter what a tough thing to go through. With less light its more of a challenge for my potted plants.

So the idea for this blog is for:

1. I'll be starting college in the fall and want to get some sort of degree in horticulture. The blog is a way to see where i started from and to watch how it grow.

2. I love my plants. I like to say  "don't mess with my family (that includes my pets), don't mess with my books, don't mess with my plants." I love my book and plants about the same. They both help me grow to be a better and more well rounded person.

 3.  Knowledge and entertainment value.
Let me explain that. So i was going to keep a note book on my plants this year, little hint and tid bits but my husband said to try a blog. Hell why not? Spell checks already there and I can't read my own hand writing. This seems to be so much more fun. Plus i can share with other people my crazy self and love for nature.
Back to the point, every year during the winter mostly i challenge my self with potted plants. I pick plants from my outdoor garden or from seed and try to grow them. This has been my most successful year, not only do i have plants from seed but i have plants that i started from cuttings and some i dug up from my garden.

4. The nitty gritty. The meandering of the lay out. I want all of you to get to know my plants each one and what they went through to get where they are. I will also share with you how i fell in love with nature. What books, gardens and different places I've been to that inspired me to follow my dreams.

5. The blog name. I love magic and all things magical. So moon gardener spoke to me. The more magic i can bring into my garden or yours the more fun and exciting your and my life will be.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I will
PS: I'm a terrible speller and grammar is out the door as well.
